It was a beautiful July day when Kyle and Megan got married!
We arrived at the grooms home late in the morning to a house full of laughter as the guys tried to figure out how to fold pocket squares and all the other fun things that come in the tuxedo bag! An avid hockey player Kyle’s cufflinks were the Capitals logo and we had to pull out the hockey sticks for a few quick shots! Some Mighty Duck references may or may not have come out at this point!
It was then off to the brides home, my second wedding with this family! Megan herself answered the door, smiling and excited for the upcoming events. We started with her details so that she could get dressed and the real fun begin! The beautiful blue she chose was accented throughout her accessories. It was then time to get dressed with the help of her bridesmaids. We did some fun and formal photos with the girls and the family before it was time to head to the church, St Isaac Jogues.
A formal yet quick ceremony was what Megan and Kyle chose. There were tears in Kyle’s eyes as Megan walked down the aisle towards him between her Mom and Dad, hugs and kisses to both the bride and groom as Dad shifted Megan’s hand from his to Kyle’s, they took each others hands and proceeded to stand in their places in front of the priest. They chose readings that meant something to them and then it was time for the vows! With loud clear voices they made their promises. Then the first kiss was done, the paperwork was signed and they were heading back down the aisle as husband and wife! We were actually ahead of schedule so they had impromptu receiving line. When all the guests had passed through it was picture time!
Megan and Kyle chose to do their photos at the Guild Inn, one of my favourite locations. As it was a bit later in the day the park wasn’t very busy which gave us lots of options. We started with the family photos, capturing some silly and some more traditional images, to remember those special relationships. We then let the families head off to the cocktail hour while the bridal party stayed to play in the park! It was then time for Megan and Kyle to get a bit of time alone in front of our lenses! This is always my favourite time for a couple because it’s pretty much the only time they have during that day to spend just them without being pulled in a hundred different directions it’s just them (and us).
It was then off to Ellas Banquet Hall for the reception! When we arrived the guests were already in party mode so the bridal party didn’t make them wait too long and the night was underway! Megan and Kyle chose to do their first dance as soon as they entered the hall. It was then a whirlwind of speeches, dinner, kissing game (which was super fun as hockey continued to make it’s presence known as part of the theme). When the DJ finally opened up the dance floor it remained packed for most of the night with all kinds of music and all generations strutting their stuff! The single guys and girls brought their A games to the bouquet and garter toss with one of the groom’s sisters catching the bouquet and the cutest little guy catching the garter! We were so honoured to be a part of Megan and Kyle’s wedding and know that they are truly loved by all those that came out to celebrate with them.
Enjoy the recap of their very special day.
